For the 2010 Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore, the organiser has changed the routes taking marathon runners from all categories through every scenic routes of Sinagpore!

Full marathon starts at the heart of the most popular hangout place in Sinagpore- Orchard Road at the T-juction after Ngee Ann City. Runners also get to pass by other attractive and popular places such as Clark Quay, Chinatown, Sinagpore's durian -Esplanade, Singapore's very own Flyer and the newly built Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort!

Half marathon would also be as exciting as it would be flag of at Sentosa Bridge!

10km Men/Women/Wheelchair marathon runners would be to the Central Business District, turning back to city's Fullerton Hotel and to Esplanade Bridge which also has a scenic view. And next up wold be key landmarks of Sinagpore on the Marina Bay before ending at Pandang!

The most attractive part of the race would be the Prizes!

There are up to ten positions to be won for the Full marathon.

Prize starts from $150 to $55000 depending on the categories, whether it is the Open, Sinagpore or Veteran category.

For the Half marathon and 10 km run, there are top three places to be won!

From $1000 to $5000.

10km run's prices would range from $1000 to $2000 for top three spots for all three categories!

For Ekiden, top 3 teams will win themselves $1250 to as much as $2500!

But what harm can it do? We ladies always calls it an investment!

Take a walk down Orchard Road and you will be amazed at the wide array and variety of products and shopping centres found there.

and it is very accessible!

Next stop will be the suburbs, TAMPINES!

Other then fashion, while i suppose the men are more interested in electronics and high tech stuff. Which brings us to COURTS at Tampines!

HI!! YES IT IS US AGAIN! ANYWAY...

The SITEX IT fair is one of the most anticipated fair 2010, for technology lovers, where they can get electronic gadgets for prices way lower than usual and more FREE GIFTS(with purchase)than usual!

So, for this week's post, i, myself went to this particular IT fair and i saw some really GREAT bargains that should not be missed!

There are many acknowledged brands like HP(Hewlett
Packard), Canon, Apple, Samsung, Sony, Toshiba and many more!

HP booth is one of those near the entrance/exit doors.

Samsung promoters working hard to generate sales. (:

Sony's outlet.

Canon's (look at the amount of people!)

And even COURTS is taking part!

Not only are there MANY laptops/desktop computers, there are cameras, mp3, ear/headphones and even phone casings as well!

I find these casings most worth it! They are selling for 3 for $12 in the IT fair, but at other places, they are sold 1 for $10!! Its a great bargain!

 I collected this much when i was only one quarter through the fair! which include brands like...

A store that sells mainly different kings and type of thumb drives and hard disks.

Apple store.

Many brochures were given to me with the prices listed on it. But..... it is NOT the net price! Which means that you still can bargain till a much much lower price to your own satisfaction!

For example: The "ASK FOR SPECIAL PRICE" was hand written by the promoter for apple products and he told me they prices are still negotiable.

For example, like this particular Fujifilm camera s2800 that i set my eyes on, its $499, but being a Singaporean, i couldn't let my bargaining techniques go to waste so after some time and bargaining with the promoter, i manage to get it for only $440!

With SEVEN free gifts including a camera casing, cleaning kit, 16GB memory card, card reader, screen protector, rechargable batteries and a tripod stand! I don't think i have ever been so happy with shopping before. (:

And there is me who is already playing with my new gadget at dinner on the same day! (Just look at my opened camera box on the left!)

So, if you are a tech savvy person and is very interested in this not-to-missed event,do plan your trip to Singapore when we are having our IT fair!!!

To those who couldn't make it this time, there is always next time as IT fair happens once every 3 or 4 months in a year! The next date would be 10 to 13 march 2011. So, by then do plan a trip to Singapore around that timing for a holiday get away!

Anime Festival Singapore

HELLO everyone! It was a wonderful saturday event at suntec city and convention centre because of the ANIME FESTIVAL ASIA EVENT! In case you have no idea what it is all about let me introduce you to the world of MANGA( japanese comics) and coslay.

Cosplay originally known as Costume Play, represents a person dressing up as the character in an anime/manga and impersonating as that character. One of the events that takes place in Singapore is none other than the Anime Festival Singapore ( AFA for short ), it started in 2008 and since then it has become a yearly event!

Other than cosplaying, AFA also has Japanese artist coming to Singapore to perform and therefore, not only you can to see people dressing up as anime characters, you can alsosee Japanese bands and artist performing and those bands and artist might also be your favorites. 

The above pictures are pictures of cosplayers, see how enthusiastic they are dressing up as anime characters.

Deepavali

Deepavali, popularly known as the "festival of lights", is an important five-day festival in Hinduism, Jainism & Sikhism , occurring between mid-October and mid-November. For Hindus, this festival is the most important festival of the year & is celebrated in families by performing traditional activities together in their homes. Deepavali is an official holiday in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Myammar, Mauritius, Guyana, Trinidad & Tobago, Suriname, Malaysia and Fiji.

Deepavali involves the lighting of small clay lamps filled with oil to signify the triumph of good over evil. During this festival, all the celebrants wear new clothes & share sweets & snacks with family members & friends. 

By lighting the oil lamps, we are also thanking the gods for the happiness, knowledge, peace & wealth that we have received.

Preparation for Deepavali usually starts at least two to three weeks before the festival. Disposal of old furniture, bringing in of newly purchased items for the home, buying of new clothes & baking of cookies are all part of the preparations.

Most of the decorative items that will be used to add 'brightness' to the home, such as greeting cards, colourful lights, fire crackers, lamps & rice powder to make kolams, are usually purchased from Little India, Singapore, also known as "Tekka Market" to many. During the festive season of Deepavali, Little India is lighted up with colourful lights & beautiful structures & mannequins dressed in Saris.

Speaking of Kolam, it is usually drawn on the morning of Deepavali, outside the house of the celebrants. In the oldern days, it was only drawn using white flour(mixed with water). These days, coloured rice is used as well. This enhances the beauty of the kolam, as it adds colour & boost to the eyes.

there you go, with just 30mins of fun & laughter with another loved one, a beautiful creation is made.

Knowing Indians, we love food that has rich taste. & an example of such a food is definitely, spicy food. Spices and aromatics are the very heart of Indian cooking. They have been used since ancient times. They were mentioned in the ancient Hindu scriptures called the Vedas, ancient Egyptian papyruses and the Old Testament. 

The basic food during the festival of lights, are : Firstly, briyani rice. Briyani is made using basmati rice, mixing with the various spices of indian culture. Also, during a Deepavali opehouse, another must not miss is the mutton mix. The chicken sambal, achar, papadam are few of the basic food you can see in one's home during the festival.

Deepavali lasts for a long period of time, usually up to a month. During the month of Deepavali, relatives & friends invite each other to one another's house, to spend time & catch up with each other. Indians believe that by giving food to others, the gratefulness will help us once we have passed on. 

since it is the festival of lights, what's a festival, without its lights! After dinner, the youngsters gather & have fun playing with fire crackers. 

 After all the firecrackers have been used up, we get back into the house, sit around the elders & chit chat. Catching up with the family & friends can be a better feeling that you can imagine. Snapping pictures of memories, listening to music & muching on the baked cookies, deepavali is a festival that also bonds the people in your life together with each other.

Do remember to visit Little India, during the Deepavali period & grab the must-not-miss sales on almost every single thing!
